Here is my latest demo reel, mostly of animation/artwork created while I was at university. My passion is character animation, and I am working hard to learn more and improve my skills in this area, so hopefully in a few months I'll have an updated reel!

A member of the Animated News and Views forum posted this AWESOME picture from Disney's upcoming return to traditional animation - The Princess and the Frog. Apparently the image is from the 2008 annual report of the Walt Disney Company. Now if they can get the movie to look like THAT...

After a teaser trailer I wasn't too keen on myself, this image gives me a little more hope haha. C'mon Disney!

My Short Film - Supreme Being

The result of a whole year of hard labour - my final year of university. We had to create an animated short film, working either in a group or individually. I worked with three other talented girls - Rachael Walker, Sarah Meiklejohn and Lauren Tregenza, who if I find out they have blogs, I shall post links to! The film is based around an alien who comes to Earth as a sort of 'ambassador' to help enlighten and advance the human race. You might say he's a little bit up himself, but he soon 'comes back down to Earth' when technical difficulties begin to ruin his presentation to a group of world representatives.
I'm really proud of myself and the girls with how this turned out with the amount of time we ended up having on this thing! The film won the audience choice award on the uni's screening night. Yeh!
My main roles on the film were supervising animator, animator, pre-production artist (concept art,storyboards, animatic) and I also did some of the rigging. We had so many technical difficulties along the way... we would like to have had more time to actually animate the characters, but I think we did pretty good overall with the time we had!!.

Well to start things off I thought I might post some of my work from uni. Here is a line test I did in first year, of a jumping character to practice certain principles of animation like squash and stretch, anticipation etc.

Overall, even though it's an older piece, I still quite like it. I remember I never really finished this off properly, you can really notice it right at the end, I needed to add in a few more frames to finish off the follow-through and cushioning of the landing. Probably could do with a few more frames when he lifts his leg off the ground right at the start too. Man after 2 years of solid CGI work, this makes me want to do 2d so bad. Thankfully my 11 Second Club entry this month will be in wonderous 2d!! If I ever get the time to do it! Sooo haardd, but so worth it.
